Lidl has launched a raft of deals over the past few weeks to ease pressure on budgets. At the start of the week, the bargain supermarket dropped the price of its Birchwood Small Fresh Whole Turkey to £2.50 per kilogram. It’s also offering a range of vegetable trimmings with prices starting from just 5p.
The move comes as supermarkets vie for the title of best-value Christmas dinner. Tesco most recently launched a Christmas dinner deal costing £9.55 for six people – or £1.59 a head – for Clubcard members. The offer includes a turkey, festive vegetables, including potatoes, carrots, and parsnips, sage and onion stuffing and gravy granules.
Bargain giant Aldi set out one of the most aggressive offers on the market, with a full Christmas dinner for eight costing £11.60 – around £1.45 per person – available from December 19 to December 24. Lidl’s festive spread is priced at £12 for eight people, or just under £1.50 per head.
