A small plane crashed into a hangar at Parafield Airport, in north Adelaide, at around 2.10pm local time (5.40am GMT).
The airport has been closed to all air traffic.
It is unknown how many people were on board the aircraft involved.
A witness reported seeing black smoke billowing from a large fire at the airport.Â
Multiple fire crews are in attendance with local residents urged to avoid the area.
Locals have also been told to shut their windows and doors due to the blaze.
