Vin Diesel Action Fantasy Epic Hits Free Streaming Ahead of Long-Awaited Sequel

Action movie superstar Vin Diesel is a much complex figure than he may initially appear, with the burly Fast and Furious lead often using his imposing frame to…roll a dice. The actor is a Dungeons & Dragons superfan and was once given the chance to bring one of his character creations to life on the big screen in this action fantasy flick that’s now headed to free streaming. Not only that, but more than a decade later, a sequel is also now in the works.

Smashing together action and fantasy with Diesel at the center, 2015’s The Last Witch Hunter is directed by Breck Eisner and uses Diesel’s D&D character to tell a story of revenge across time. Starring Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood, and Michael Caine alongside Diesel, the movie was a passion project for the MCU star, and while it was savaged by critics at the time, resulting in a “rotten” score of 18%, and tanked at the box office with $146.9 million worldwide, it has since become something of a streaming gem.

‘The Last Witch Hunter’ Has Become a Streaming Gem

The Last Witch Hunter introduces a modern world that holds many secrets, one of them being that witches are very real and they live among us. The other is that Vin Diesel’s Kaulder is the titular witch hunter, an 800-year-old warrior who was cursed with immortality after slaying the all-powerful Witch Queen. Now, her resurrection threatens the survival of the human race as Kaulder, the only one of his kind remaining, faces the Witch Queen’s vengeful wrath.

While The Last Witch Hunter may have failed to capture audiences in the same way the character and his adventures no doubt captured Diesel’s Dungeons & Dragons party, it has found massive success on streaming in the years since. And The Last Witch Hunter is sure to find even more streaming success when it lands on free platform Tubi on June 1, 2026. Especially now a sequel is finally happening.

Vin Diesel Has Revealed ‘The Last Witch Hunter 2’ Title & Plot Details

Vin Diesel in The Last Witch Hunter Lionsgate

Officially announced back in September last year, The Last Witch Hunter 2 is now in the works after the first outing found an audience on Netflix and other platforms. Promising an “ambitious scale,” Adam Fogelsen, chair of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group, revealed, “The Last Witch Hunter has grown since its theatrical release into a global fan favorite, with audiences continuing to discover and rewatch it across every platform over the past decade. That enduring enthusiasm made clear there is an appetite for more stories set in this world.”

Since then, Vin Diesel himself has revealed that the sequel will be titled Kaulder the Immortal – The Lion’s Oath, with a tagline that reads, “Some debts take centuries to pay.” Sharing the first page of the script, the follow-up will begin by taking us back in time and introducing a young version of Michael Caine’s character, Dolan 36th, a priest who is tasked with assisting Kaulder on his mission, from the first movie.

It has already been confirmed that Hollywood icon Michael Caine will come out of retirement to reprise his role in The Last Witch Hunter 2, with his character expected to play a key part in the plot, with these details suggesting the sequel will include a de-aged version of the acting icon. The Last Witch Hunter 2 is something Vin Diesel has wanted to make happen for years, and thanks to streaming, his wish has finally come true.
