A woman was allegedly gang-raped by four men including one of her relatives, according to reports. Police in the southern Indian state of Kerala arrested the four alleged perpetrators on Friday night.
Authorities had received a report of the men giving the woman intoxicating substances before assaulting her on several occasions over a two-year period.
Officers based in the town of Perambra said some of the alleged attacks were caught on camera, the Times of India reports.
One of the attackers was allegedly a relative of the woman, according to the national publication.
She did not initially lodge a complaint with the police out of fear of threats made by the men, authorities said.
They also said the alleged assaults took place in multiple locations including lodges and houses over the two-year period.
Police arrested one of the alleged assaults at his relative’s home in the city of Kozhikode, reports suggest.
It is understood they were forced to call for backup after being barred from entering the property.
The other men were apprehended through simultaneous overnight raids in Kapad and Karuvannur, with all alleged assailants remanded in judicial custody.
