A new report from What’s On Netflix delved into new details about an upcoming Netflix series titled Empress of Flames. The historical Thai drama focuses on the last queen of Burma. The show stars Pimachanok Luevisadpaibul, who previously starred in the Thai action film My Dearest Assassin, and Narilya Gulmongkolpech, who starred in the Thai Drama series Master of the House. Moreover, the show is directed by Karn Sivarok Kongsakul and written by Titipong Chaisati, Nuttapot Potchumenean, Gift Nattamol Patehrhanom, Nut Nualpang, and Jan Weerasu Worrapot. Interestingly, Empress of Flames adapts a book titled Journey Through Burma, written by Prince Damrong.
The book was first adapted into a film titled The Royal Fire in 1996, and now a new interpretation of the source material is on the way, as Netflix has confirmed on its website that the show will be released on December 3, 2026. Given that the Netflix show is about a fight for control of an entire Kingdom, it’s unsurprising that the scale is kept intact to fully convey what’s at stake for the characters. It’s interesting how little has been shown of the story or characters so far, though viewers can likely expect a full-length trailer soon ahead of the December release date.
