Brits continue to be gripped by the cost-of-living crisis and many are looking for ways to earn some extra cash. Some are turning to microjobs, which are small, task-based assignments paid on a piece-rate basis rather than at a traditional hourly rate. Workers get a fee for each completed task, with some earning up to an additional £1,000 a month for just two hours work a day.
Microjobs are on the rise in the UK, with data from the Trades Union Congress (TUC) showing the proportion of the UK workforce taking part in digital platform work at least once a week has more than doubled in recent years. Some involve digital and highly repetitive tasks, while others are short-term physical activities.
Microjobs benefit a number of people, from full-time workers to parents and students trying to balance their commitments with earning extra money. Luckily, there are a number of options available, depending on your situation.
Employment website Indeed.com said: “Pursuing microjobs allows individuals to work as independent contractors to perform small tasks and temporary work. You can use these jobs to earn extra money as a side income or gain experience and skills as you work to advance your career.”
Here are five microjobs that you could try, as reported by The Sun. One of them can help rake in up to an additional £1,000 per month for just two hours work per day.

Some people also use Facebook Marketplace for a better rental rate. It’s always worth doing a bit of research beforehand to ensure you get the best value.

Telephone mystery shopping is an easy option for home workers. Companies pay people to pose as customers and secretly test businesses over the phone.
You could be ringing estate agents, insurance firms, or hotels to check what their staff are like. Once you’ve made the call, fill in a short online report and get paid around £5 to £15 each time.
Companies offering the work are iShopforIpsos, Mystery Shoppers Ltd, Tern Consultancy and JKS Mystery Shopping. You could earn up to £60 for making four calls a month.
