US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that American forces began conducting “additional self-defence strikes against multiple targets in Iran” after US President Donald Trump warned the country “is dead.” In a post on X CENTCOM confirmed that the strikes commenced at approximately 5.15pm Eastern Time on Wednesday, acting under orders from President Trump.
The operation was described as a response to what US officials called Iran’s “unwarranted and continued aggression.” On Wednesday, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth told reporters at CENTCOM: “CENTCOM will be busy tonight because we are going to hit Iran hard.
“Iran has a chance to make a great deal. They haven’t been willing to it…they are going to have tap, tap, tap bombs dropping on key facilities in Iran from the U.S. – it is not to restart the war but to set the terms for a deal.”
