Martin Scorsese and Oscar Isaac Team Up for Netflix Thriller Series ‘Untitled Vegas’

Oscar Isaac’s television career isn’t slowing down, as the actor is set to star in another prestigious series for the streaming giant Netflix. The creative partnership between Isaac and the platform has led to an impressive track record for both of them. First, it was Guillermo del Toro’s heartfelt adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, with Isaac bringing Dr. Frankenstein to life in a project that garnered various accolades during awards season. Next, the actor would star in the second season of the anthology series Beef, an A24 co-production that would also receive praise for its lead performances and intense story.

Now, an exclusive report from Deadline has revealed that Isaac is continuing to work with Netflix, this time on a high-stakes series centered around a casino in Las Vegas. The Untitled Vegas series comes from the creative team of Brian Koppelman and David Levien, with the duo previously executive producing and writing the television series Billions and Super Pumped. Additionally, it’s been reported that JC Chandor (director of Triple Frontier and Kraven the Hunter) is directing the first two episodes in the series. Adding even more excitement to the project is the fact that Martin Scorsese is on board as executive producer.

Joining this project is only one of the deals Isaac is working on with the streamer, as he’s also close to signing an overall deal with Netflix. In this new deal, the streamer would have first-look rights on film and television projects from Mad Gene, a production company founded by Isaac, Elvira Lind, and Gena Konstantinakos. This could mean that Netflix subscribers will be seeing a lot more of Isaac, whether that be with projects that he produces behind the scenes, as well as in whatever he chooses to star in which Mad Gene develops.

Netflix’s Untitled Vegas series is set to be eight episodes, with the plot synopsis from Deadline describing it as being set in a “high-stakes, sharp-elbowed present-day Las Vegas casino business, which is a modernized but still dangerous version of the legendary city.” The outlet also gives details about Isaac’s character, saying that “at the center of it stands Robert ‘Bobby Red’ Redman, president of the hottest hotel casino in town, who has to make some long-odds moves to try and secure his position and take more ground.”

Scorsese serving as an executive producer is unsurprising, given the filmmaker’s track record with films and series that have a similar backdrop and story, most notably his 1995 film Casino. Isaac’s Netflix projects haven’t disappointed so far, and it will be exciting to see the actor collaborate with his former Triple Frontier director JC Chandor on the first two episodes of the series. There is no release date set for the Untitled Vegas series, though with how much of the creative team that has already been assembled, it would be unsurprising if the production aims for a 2027 release window.
