Meghan Markle tipped to win British public back, claims expert | Royal | News

Meghan Markle could end up winning the British public’s affection back if she followed her recent approach to her latest trip in the UK, a PR expert has claimed. The Duchess of Sussex made a quiet return to her husband’s home country last week, when she met the King and Queen privately with her two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Meghan’s visit to Gloucester came after several weeks of varying statements from her spokesperson over her plans to visit the country. Prince Harry was originally expected to be joined by his wife on his five-day trip to the UK, however, the plans changed at the eleventh hour due to security concerns, with Meghan not making any public appearances. A PR expert claimed the latest Sussex trip was far from a disaster PR wise, despite the chaos that preceded it and claimed that if the duchess were to follow a similar approach for her trips in the future, the Brits could just warm up.

Renae Smith, founder of PR and branding agency The Atticism, told the Daily Express: “There were no explosive interviews, no bizarre side stories, no distracting controversies.

“Harry remained focused on Invictus and his charitable work, and perhaps most importantly, Meghan didn’t become the centre of the public-facing narrative in the way we’ve often seen before.”

Ms Smith added: “Will it ‘fix’ anything? I don’t think so, not yet…

“If Meghan repeated this approach, say another ten times, then yes, I genuinely think people would slowly begin to soften towards her – even just slightly.

“People might eventually start saying, ‘Actually, she’s not making everything about herself anymore,’ or ‘Perhaps she’s just supporting her husband.’ But that’s the keyword: consistency.”

It comes as Harry’s reconciliation with the Royal Family appeared slim, at least in the near future, after sources claimed he still has one huge challenge to overcome – his brother, Prince William.

William and Harry’s bond turned sour after a series of accusations from the Sussex camp towards the royals.

Harry also made several claims about his brother in his bombshell memoir, Spare, which the Firm have never commented on.

Now, sources claim that the rift between the two feuding brothers shows no signs of healing, and that was evident during Harry’s trip back to Britain.

On his first day in London, Harry and William were just 12 miles apart but ended up not meeting.

A source told People magazine: “It [their bond] is so broken.”

They added: “I thought it would have perhaps eased a little bit by now, to be honest.

“But there has been no movement, especially on William’s side. There is no contact.”
