National Rail’s latest update includes the following advice for passengers:
-Major disruption is continuing across Greater Manchester and the North West of England until the end of the day.
-Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, London Northwestern Railway, Merseyrail, Northern, TransPennine Express and Transport for Wales are all affected.
-Passengers travelling with Northern or TransPennine Express are being advised not to travel.
-East Midlands Railway is also advising passengers not to travel between Sheffield and Liverpool Lime Street.
-East Midlands Railway tickets are being accepted on buses between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly.
-London Northwestern Railway is operating replacement buses between Liverpool Lime Street and Crewe.
-Transport for Wales passengers can use replacement buses between Warrington Bank Quay and Manchester Piccadilly.
-Ticket acceptance and ticket easements remain in place to help passengers complete their journeys.
-Customers with East Midlands Railway or TransPennine Express tickets dated Thursday 6 August can instead travel on Friday 7 August at no extra cost.
