In the lead-up to Supergirl, DC Comics Shop has started selling “a curated selection of limited-edition art, apparel, and collectibles featuring Bilquis Evely’s artwork from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and designs inspired by the upcoming film.” One of the pieces, titled “Supergirl (2026 Movie) Metal Print – Across the Galaxy,” was being sold for $120 and featured characters from Supergirl drawn by Evely in the style of the original Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comics. Yet one of the alien creatures in the Supergirl print doesn’t belong to DC or Warner Bros. In fact, it is an alien from Star Wars, specifically, an alien that was cut from the movie.
In the Supergirl artwork, the hulking figure with the grey neck appears to be Lexo Sooger, an alien that can be seen in a deleted scene from Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi on Canto Bight, via Polygon. Supergirl features a similar long-necked alien known as Screecher, who was recently shown by star Jason Momoa in an Instagram video. See Evely’s artwork, the image of Lexo Sooger, and Jason Momoa’s original video below:
Warner Bros. and DC Comics have not commented on the error. However, “Supergirl (2026 Movie) Metal Print – Across the Galaxy” has since been removed from the DC Comics Shop website. Disney and Lucasfilm, the owners of Star Wars, have also not commented on the artwork.
This is not an indication of a DC and Star Wars crossover, but rather a simple mistake. It is currently unclear how the mix-up happened. The most likely scenario is that Bilquis Evely was either sent the wrong reference photo for her Supergirl artwork or accidentally looked up the wrong image. It is certainly an easy mistake to make, as both Lexo Sooger and Screecher share similar designs, including long, crane-like necks, gray skin, and a gold necklace. However, Screecher’s mouth opens up into a lower mandible while Lexo Sooger does not.
Supergirl‘s marketing is in full swing, with tickets recently going on sale and a final trailer having been released. Early box office tracking has Supergirl opening to $55 million. That is well below Superman‘s $125 million opening weekend last year. In fact, Supergirl‘s projected opening is on par with Green Lantern ($53 million) or The Flash ($55 million). It’s also so far behind Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, which opened to $81 million in its first three days. Now, Supergirl and Star Wars are not just tied together as being box office competitors, but also by having an unintended marketing crossover.
