Meghan Markle has been brutally mocked on one popular US show as the audience erupt into hysterics. The Duchess of Sussex’s new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, has been at the centre of brutal criticism since its release earlier this month – with the harsh comments coming from those on social media, as well as a host of well-known celebrities.
Becoming the latest celebrity to mock the former working royal, US television host Jimmy Fallon joked about Meghan, 43, making her own pretzel bags during an episode of her show.
During the Trivia Night segment on The Tonight Show, Jimmy’s sidekick Steve Higgins asked him a host of questions – including one in response to the Duchess’s eight-part series.
Speaking to Jimmy, Steve said: “Ready, you’re going to get this. What is the number one question that mystifies scientists? Number one question.”
Jimmy then suggested: “Is there life on another planet?,” before Steve said, “Ooh, no. Why does Meghan Markle make her own pretzel bags? They don’t know why.”
As the audience could be heard erupting in laughter, Fallon laughed and replied: “That’s interesting. She takes it from one bag and puts it in another bag, and that confuses people.”
The comment made by Jimmy was in response to a scene in With Love, Meghan which showed the mother-of-two transferring pre-packaged pretzels into another bag with a personalised label on them.
Meghan can be heard saying, “This, we’re just going to put into a different bag.”
Fans then spotted the recognisable Trader Joe packaging of the peanut butter flavoured snacks. Whilst noting that her friend Daniel Martin, who appeared as one guest in the series, does not have a nut allergy, she labelled the bags to be cautious.
She said: “I know that Daniel [Martin] loves peanut butter but I’m going to label this anyway, you always want to be conscious if someone has a nut allergy. I’m packing this all up so I can take it home and prep the guest room.”
