Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 finally has a release date of March 10, 2026, and with this newest announcement comes even more news about the massive production of this new batch of episodes. Based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga of the same name, One Piece isn’t just any IP; it’s literally the best-selling comic of all time. With such a huge story and cultural impact comes giant responsibilities, and from the looks of this latest video from Netflix, the streamer and Tomorrow Studios are doing everything they can to make their live-action series a faithful adaptation to the manga, by bringing its larger-than-life world and characters.
The short two-minute video (which can be viewed below) features the cast and crew of One Piece teasing the exciting developments that are in store for the Straw Hat crew in season 2. There is plenty of new footage in this new look, featuring behind-the-scenes footage that showcases the impressive production design of the series. While there is plenty of CGI on display, there is also an incredible attention to detail in the practical effects and sets of the show that make it all feel like a manga panel come to life.
Aside from the impressive sets and world-building, the new look at One Piece Season 2 also highlights two characters who will be important to the season: Navy Captain Smoker (Callum Kerr) and the enigmatic Ms. All Sunday (Lera Abova). Both of these characters are important to the greater story of One Piece, making their introductions in the live-action show incredibly essential. Moreover, Smoker and All Sunday are both devil-fruit users, so fans can expect a fun mix of practical and CGI effects to show off their unique power sets.
Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ Season 2 is an Ambitious and Exciting Production
It’s clear from this behind-the-scenes video that the entire team behind the series has a deep respect for Oda’s work and the story he’s currently telling in the manga. Consisting of over 1100 anime episodes and 1165 chapters, the world created by Oda is fully realized in a way that very few other modern-day manga and anime are capable of. So, it’s exciting to see that there is just as much dedication to the live-action adaptation. It’s unknown just how invested Netflix is in bringing the entirety of the story to life, though the series is already renewed for a third season, which will adapt the Alabasta arc of the manga.
Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 is set to premiere in March, and there is still no release date for the third season, though one star of the show has already teased that shooting will begin soon. With how impressive the sets and design of One Piece looks in this new video, it’s likely that the third season will do just as an impressive job of bringing Alabasta to life and do justice to the epic scale of Oda’s original story. While the future of One Piece beyond that third season is unknown, the potential feels unlimited.
