Trump Using Preventative Treatment on Neck: White House

The skin rash on President Donald Trump’s neck seen earlier this week is a reaction to a common cream used for preventative skin treatment, his doctor said in a statement on March 4.

The redness drew widespread attention on social media after news photographers captured close-up images of the rash during a Medal of Honor ceremony at the White House on March 2.

“President Trump is using a very common cream on the right side of his neck, which is a preventative skin treatment, prescribed by the White House Doctor. The President is using this treatment for one week, and the redness is expected to last for a few weeks,” Dr. Sean Barbabella said in a statement shared with The Epoch Times.

Trump’s physician did not elaborate on why the president was using the cream.

Past Medical Reports

Trump’s medical report from April 13 last year explains the president had some minor sun damage and a few benign lesions.

The report noted that Trump was prescribed Mometasone cream “as needed for a skin condition.” The topical corticosteroid cream is used to relieve redness, itching, swelling, or other discomfort caused by certain skin conditions, but can also lead to side effects like burning and redness for some patients, according to the Mayo Clinic.

“No concerning lesions or growths were identified,” the doctor wrote in the report.

A memo issued by the doctor three months later in July noted that Trump was in “excellent health” after a comprehensive exam.

Barbabella noted at the time that recent photos of Trump showing minor bruising on the back of his hand were consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of daily aspirin is part of a cardiovascular prevention regimen.
