‘Incendiary Device’ Deployed Outside Manhattan Federal Building, Suspect Arrested

A suspect was taken into custody Monday morning after authorities said an individual set off an incendiary device outside 26 Federal Plaza in Lower Manhattan. A large law enforcement response was on scene Monday morning, and the FBI’s New York Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating. FBI Director Kash Patel said two people suffered minor injuries.

“This morning an individual deployed an incendiary device outside of 26 Federal Plaza. The individual has been taken into custody, and the FBI New York Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating the incident,” the FBI said in a statement to NTD.

“The individual is in custody and two minor injuries reported thus far,” FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed on X.

The incident occurred outside the federal office building at about 8:30 a.m. The building houses offices for the FBI, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Department of Homeland Security and the New York Federal Plaza Immigration Court.

In a video posted to X by Freedom News TV, an independent news outlet, officers were seen running from the building. White smoke and flames could be seen on the sidewalk in front of the building. Officers then tackled a man on the sidewalk as additional law enforcement personnel responded to the scene.

Additional video showed emergency crews, federal agents, and police securing the area as sidewalks outside the building were closed and people were evacuated.
