OVO hands customers up to £800 Tesco Clubcard vouchers | Personal Finance | Finance

Energy giant OVO is giving customers £400 of Tesco Clubcard vouchers with a mammoth 40,000 Clubcard points if they install solar panels.

Solar panel installations have hit a 15-year high, the firm said, as more and more UK households turn to the power of the sun to keep their homes running for less, while Ofgem continues to push up energy bills for everyone else (just today, the latest predictions show a 25% rise coming in January).

OVO says that customers who install a qualifying solar PV system through OVO Solar & Heating will receive the Tesco Clubcard points worth £400 in vouchers, or up to £800 if exchanged with Tesco’s Clubcard Reward Partners.

It says: “The offer lands as UK solar adoption hits record levels. March 2026 saw 27,607 new solar installations, the highest number recorded in any single month since 2012, with total UK installed capacity now above 22.8 GW by the end of June 2026.

“Yet cost remains the single biggest reason households hold back. A 2026 survey of more than 2,300 energy consumers across England and Wales found that 52% cite upfront cost as the main barrier to installing solar.

“The Clubcard deal allows the more than 24 million UK households with a Tesco Clubcard to earn vouchers back on the cost of a solar system – averaging £7,500 for a typical 3-bed home – turning your solar installation into savings on future Tesco shopping or with over 100 Reward Partners.”

Harry Humfrey, CEO at OVO Solar & Heating, said: “Cost is still the number one thing standing between UK households and going solar and we don’t think that should be the case, especially with energy bills where they are. This isn’t a discount code, it’s real savings, back in people’s pockets, at a moment when going solar has never made more sense. We’ve worked with Tesco for years now, and this is a big step in making that partnership count for the people trying to cut their bills for good.”

  • Get a quote and go ahead with a qualifying solar PV installation via an authorised OVO Solar & Heating installer.

  • Once installation is complete and you’ve signed the handover documents, watch out for an email from OVO (within 24 hours) inviting you to link your Tesco Clubcard account.

  • Follow the instructions in that email and submit your valid Clubcard details within 90 days of receiving it.

  • Your 40,000 points will then be credited within 14 days of that. Spend those points at Tesco, or with any of Tesco’s 100+ Clubcard Reward Partners, for up to three times the value.

  • You need to be a homeowner aged 18 or over, getting a residential solar PV installation (this doesn’t apply to businesses), and you can’t be in Northern Ireland or the Isle of Man.
