Amazon’s 7-Part Action Thriller Series That’s Better Than ‘Reacher’ Officially Becomes Streaming Hit

Despite Reacher‘s dominance of the streaming charts, there’s another series whose popularity has climbed recently, and it is actually a much better show than Alan Ritchson’s wildly popular action hit. With a more compelling story, better-drawn characters, and gripping realism, this seven-part spin-off also outdoes the original, and puts other contenders in the action game to shame. You should know better than to mess with Ben Edwards.

‘The Terminal List: Dark Wolf’ Is Also Better Than Chris Pratt’s Original Series

The following contains mild spoilers for The Terminal List.The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is a prequel to Chris Pratt’s revenge action series from 2022, The Terminal List. Years before the events in the original, a group of Navy SEALs are stationed in Iraq, where each day they must deal with the impending threats from terrorists. One day, an attack ends the lives of many soldiers, and Ben Edwards swears revenge. The problem is that the culprit is actually a CIA asset, and Edwards still goes after him.

Eventually, Edwards and his team are discharged after disobeying orders. Some time after, a mysterious man called Jed Haverford approaches the former SEAL and offers him the opportunity to become a Black Ops agent. Edwards recruits part of his team to thwart a nuclear arms deal, but he also discovers that the mission is extremely complicated and might be compromised.

The original show saw Pratt’s James Reece going on a journey to avenge the death of his family, and this eventually took him to the upper ranks of a nationwide conspiracy. The Terminal List: Dark Wolf focuses on Taylor Kitsch’s mysterious character from Season 1, and some might have wondered if the show could surpass its predecessor while centering around someone else whose story we just didn’t know. But as it turned out, it did.

Not only are the action elements better, but the story feels stronger. The Terminal List is simpler in that it’s just about a man on a violent revenge spree. In the spin-off prequel, questions about morality, military values, and honor emerge to make Edwards’ journey more engrossing. And yes, its storytelling is better than Reacher‘s, the action series constantly relying on a monotonous narrative style which can feel tiresome at times.

One Year Later, Viewers Are Still Bingeing on ‘The Terminal List: Dark Wolf’

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf debuted globally on Prime Video on Aug. 25, 2025. Pratt’s original character appears only in a minor role, with the focus landing mostly on Kitsch’s Ben Edwards. It co-stars Dar Salim, Robert Wisdom, Tom Hopper, Luke Hemsworth, Rona-Lee Shimon, LaMonica Garrett, and Pablo Schreiber, among others. David DiGilio returns as showrunner after creating the original series, and this time he’s joined by Jack Carr, the author of the Terminal List book series.

Almost exactly one year after its premiere, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf has returned to the streaming charts. Per the latest update to Prime Video’s statistics, the series is among the streamer’s most-watched TV shows in the United States. The platform’s most recent action release, Reacher, is No. 1, with others like Lioness and SAS: Rogue Heroes also among the most popular titles.
