An LSU football player was reportedly served papers in connection with a lawsuit from the University of Mississippi.
Princewill Umanmielen played for Ole Miss in 2025. He and offensive lineman Devin Harper followed former head coach Lane Kiffin to LSU in 2026. Both players are now being sued by the school for breach of contract.
The Associated Press reported Wednesday that Umanmielen was served the papers outside the LSU football facility.
NTD News has reached out to LSU’s football team and athletic department to confirm that detail.
The complaint says that he signed the new agreement on Jan. 3, 2026; on Jan. 20, he committed to LSU and entered the transfer portal; he had enrolled at LSU by Jan. 28. The suit alleges that he has still not paid the fee despite demand from the school. The suit seeks damages, including the fee itself; interest on the fee pre- and post-judgment; and attorney fees and costs.
“The University of Mississippi values its student-athletes and is committed to honoring all obligations made to them,” Ole Miss said in a statement to ESPN on July 28.
“In return, the university expects that same commitment from its student-athletes and their representatives in upholding their contracts. Before transferring to another institution, student-athletes Devin Harper and Princewill Umanmielen signed revenue sharing agreements that included a provision requiring them to compensate the university with a predetermined amount if they departed before fulfilling their commitment. The University of Mississippi has a responsibility to enforce its contractual terms, and this position is consistent with the actions of other institutions in the current landscape of college athletics. The university attempted to amicably resolve this matter prior to filing.”
They also add another layer to the Tigers’ upcoming visit to Ole Miss on Saturday. Besides Umanmielen and Harper, linebacker TJ Dottery and wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr also transferred to LSU. All four players have found success with their new team: Watkins is second on the team in receiving with 12 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown; Dottery is the team’s leading tackler with 14; Umanmielen has 11 tackles and leads the team in sacks with 5.
