Prince William teams up with BBC Traitors star to launch vital project | Royal | News

The Prince of Wales proved that he is a fan of the hit BBC show, The Traitors, as he got into the spirit of the game during a day of engagements in Somerset today. Prince William posed with Ross Kemp, who is currently appearing on the show, for the ultimate photo opportunity as he kicked off his busy day, focusing on how local communities are coming together in the face of extreme weather events. During the first two episodes of the latest new series, Mr Kemp became convinced he was being targeted by fellow contestants and being ‘murdered’ in plain sight.

Today, the Traitors star was delighted to learn that the Prince nd Princess of Wales are both huge fans of the hit BBC One show. He said: “That’s great. Them and the rest of the country. I’ve been on the TV for 43 years but I’ve never known anything like this. Even the fella at my local garage wanted a selfie; he’s never been bothered before.”

The surprising partnership between William and Mr Kemp came as the Prince launched a new initiative to help communities work together to prepare for emergencies – Ready Together. William’s visit today aims to showcase how communities are often the first line of support during emergencies, responding to and recovering from crises.

The heir arrived in Ilminster for the launch of the National Emergencies Trust’s Ready Together. The project aims to help communities across the UK take simple, practical steps to become more prepared for emergencies.

The two men took part in a practical training exercise, where they joined participants as they worked through a series of emergency scenarios.

The initiative will help existing community groups become better prepared for emergencies by leveraging their skills, resources and networks.

Later, the Prince of Wales is set to meet community leaders and local business owners who have played an important role in supporting residents during recent extreme weather events and periods of disruption. That includes a meeting with members of the local volunteer Ilminster Resilience Group and a visit to Sweet Surprise, a café that provides opportunities for adults with learning disabilities to develop skills while playing an active role in the local community.

He will also visit Ilminster Fire Station to meet representatives from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and partner organisations working to improve resilience against future extreme weather events.

A spokesman for Kensington Palace said: “Research has shown that people are very willing to help in an emergency, including to support their neighbours during a crisis. At the same time, far fewer feel their communities have the structures and plans in place to respond effectively. Ready Together seeks to bridge that gap by turning goodwill into practical preparedness.”
