The Phuket Roadshow in Muscat on January 14, 2026, was one of the major events that pointed out the strong bond between Oman and Thai tourism. With over 50 representatives from Thailand, the event made Phuket to be seen as a very appealing destination that has a great variety of luxury, culture, wellness, and leisure corresponding to the different tastes and luxury of the visitors. This event was a sign of the growing tourism links between Oman and Thailand, showing that Omani travellers’ interest in spending holidays in Thailand, especially Phuket, has risen.
The event saw strong participation from Thailand’s tourism stakeholders, including resort owners, travel companies, and representatives from Siam Niramit, one of Phuket’s top cultural attractions. The show aimed to promote Phuket’s diverse tourism offerings, catering to the needs of Omani travellers seeking a mix of luxury and cultural experiences, alongside wellness and adventure activities.
Increased Demand for Travel Between Oman and Thailand
Thailand continues to be a popular destination for Omanis, with approximately 110,000 Omani visitors recorded in 2024. According to H.E. Warunee Pan-Krajang, the Ambassador of Thailand to Oman, Thailand is now the second-largest source market for Omani tourism in the GCC, after Saudi Arabia. The appeal lies not only in Thailand’s renowned natural beauty and luxury offerings, but also in its trust among Gulf travellers.
The growing demand for leisure and cultural tourism in Thailand, especially in regions like Phuket, is met by a strategic mix of travel options catering to the needs of Omani tourists. The roadshow was designed to further boost these interests, specifically by promoting wellness, luxury resorts, and cultural experiences that align with Omani visitors’ preferences.
Siam Niramit and Other Attractions Showcased
One of the highlights of the Phuket Roadshow was the presentation by Siam Niramit, an award‑winning cultural theme park located near Patong Beach. The park offers a 90-minute show that immerses visitors in Thailand’s rich history and cultural heritage, featuring a mix of interactive exhibits, traditional performances, and multimedia storytelling. As one of Phuket’s largest and most popular attractions, Siam Niramit exemplifies the kind of unique cultural experience that Omani tourists increasingly seek when travelling to Thailand.
Other stakeholders at the event showcased a range of luxury resorts, wellness centres, and activities designed to appeal to families, honeymooners, and corporate travellers, including MICE groups. The emphasis on halal food options and family‑friendly amenities ensured that Omani visitors would feel comfortable and at home while enjoying Thailand’s diverse offerings.
Strengthening Oman’s Outbound Travel to Thailand
The Phuket Roadshow also served as a precursor to the upcoming Thai Festival in Muscat from 15 to 17 January 2026, which will be hosted by the Thailand Embassy in Oman. This cultural event will further promote the Phuket tourism offering, fostering deeper engagement between the two countries’ tourism sectors. The festival, which will take place at the Qurum Rose Garden, aims to showcase Thai arts, cuisine, and cultural traditions, reinforcing the longstanding cultural ties between Thailand and Oman.
The Thai Festival is set to provide an immersive experience, highlighting the cultural richness of Thailand while allowing Omani visitors to enjoy Thailand’s authentic experiences without leaving Oman. It demonstrates the commitment of both countries to expanding cultural exchange and increasing travel demand.
Gulf Region’s Growing Interest in Thailand
According to official statistics, GCC nationals have shown a marked increase in travel to Southeast Asia, with Thailand being one of the most sought‑after destinations in the region. The Gulf’s interest in Thai tourism is driven by the appeal of Thailand’s diverse tourism offerings, including its beaches, luxury resorts, wellness centres, and cultural heritage.
Thailand’s tourism authorities have responded by expanding the availability of visa-free entry for citizens of several GCC countries, including Oman, making it easier for Omani travellers to explore Thailand’s famous destinations like Phuket, Bangkok, and the islands of Koh Samui and Phang Nga.
A Strong Future for Oman-Thailand Tourism
The growing tourism ties between Oman and Thailand are reflected in the increasing number of Omani travellers choosing Thailand as their holiday destination. With events like the Phuket Roadshow and the Thai Festival in Muscat, Oman’s tourism sector is becoming increasingly engaged with Thailand’s tourism offerings, ranging from luxury resorts to wellness retreats and cultural experiences. The outbound travel market from Oman to Thailand is only expected to grow, with more opportunities for family tourism, luxury travel, and cultural exchange on the horizon.
Oman and Thailand are steadily becoming the focal point for future tourism growth, and both countries are still supporting each other through cultural exchanges, tourism initiatives, and travel partnerships. The ongoing development of events, infrastructures, and travel networks, along with this dynamic partnership, will enable Omani tourists to experience a lot of Thailand’s colourful and diverse tourist attractions.
