Second Shooting Hits Tesla Dealer in Oregon as Attacks on Musk’s Company Grow

Gunshots were fired Thursday morning at a Tesla dealership in Tigard, Oregon, marking the second shooting at the location within a week amid continued protests and vandalism targeting the Elon Musk-run company in parts of the country.

According to the Tigard Police Department, more than a dozen shots were fired around 4:15 a.m. at the dealership located in the Portland suburb.

Police said while there was significant damage to vehicles and showroom windows, no injuries were reported.

Police, assisted by an explosive detection dog from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives (ATF), searched the area for shell casings as part of their ongoing investigation into both shootings, which includes one that occurred on March 6.

Acts of ‘Domestic Terrorism’

Tesla dealerships in parts of the country have been targeted by vandalism and demonstrations since Musk began advising President Donald Trump in government spending. Musk is currently the lead advisor in Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an initiative to reduce federal government size and spending.

In response to the ongoing targeting of Tesla properties, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.)  announced on Wednesday that Congress would launch an investigation into what he described as “domestic terrorism” against Musk and Tesla.

Johnson accused radical left groups of orchestrating attacks against Tesla owners and vehicles due to Musk’s assistance with the Trump administration.

“The heroic work of @elonmusk has so panicked the radical Left that they’re now calling him ‘racist'(?!) and engaging in domestic terrorism to attack Tesla owners and their vehicles!” Johnson wrote on X.

Johnson pledged congressional support to assist federal law enforcement agencies in prosecuting those responsible for the attacks.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) also weighed in, revealing that DOGE committee members had formally requested Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel investigate potential links between these attacks and Democrat-aligned organizations.

“Who is behind it? Who is funding it? Is there a link with Democrat-leaning NGOs? We look forward to exposing these terrorists and bringing them to justice!” Greene wrote on X.

Trump Buys a Tesla

On Tuesday, Trump said he would buy a new Tesla to support Musk amid the recent attacks, which included acts of vandalism against Tesla’s Seattle and Massachusetts dealerships.

“I’m going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account. “Why should he be punished for putting his tremendous skills to work in order to help MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN???”

During an appearance alongside Musk outside the White House on Tuesday, Trump selected a red Model S Tesla amid a row of Teslas.

“He didn’t ask me for this,” Trump told reporters. “I said: ‘You know, Elon, I don’t like what’s happening to you, and Tesla is a great company. I don’t like what’s happening.’ It’s from our standpoint, American cars, American made.”

Trump has said that those responsible for targeting Tesla would face severe consequences under his administration.

“We catch anybody doing this because they’re harming a great American company,” Trump said on Tuesday. “And let me tell you, you do it to Tesla, and you do it to any company, we’re going to catch you, and you’re going to go through hell.”

Earlier incidents of vandalism against Tesla include spray-painted swastikas on Cybertrucks in Lynnwood, Washington; arson destroying four Cybertrucks in Seattle; fires set at charging stations near Boston; and spray-painted slogans labeling Musk as a “Nazi” at dealerships in Colorado and Massachusetts.

Tesla’s stock price has dropped significantly this year—by approximately 45 percent overall—and experienced its largest single-day decline of more than 15 percent on Monday. Following Trump’s sign of support earlier this week, shares rebounded by approximately six percent during early trading hours Wednesday.
