Ben Stokes won the toss and elected to bowl on a pitch that showed no life across the whole five days.

But India simply batted and bowled better and deservedly claimed a huge victory.

Attention now turns to the third Test, where the pressure will be on England to bounce back.

Thankfully, they are set to be boosted by the return of Jofra Archer after over four years since his last Test.

England have made one change from the side at Edgbaston as Archer replaces Josh Tongue.

England vs India: What has been said?

Stokes has been speaking exclusively to talkSPORT’s Jon Norman ahead of the third Test.

The captain has been talking about Archer’s return.

He said: “It is incredibly exciting for England cricket fans, but most importantly, it is great for Jofra that he’s been adamant that since his injury problems, this is where he wanted to be.

“He wanted to play Test cricket again for England. When he eventually played in the short format stuff, his next goal was to get into a physical position where he could play Test cricket, so now that day is finally here, it is amazing for us and for him.

“The skill that Jof possesses, we all know what that is.

“It is pretty obvious what we expect from him, which is skill and bowling at the speed of light.

“He is a game-changer and has all the attributes to be one of the all-time greats to bowl for England.”
