Authorities in South Florida are seeking leads from the public in connection with a shooting early Sunday morning that left a 21-year-old social media influencer dead and two other people critically injured.
A spokesperson for the Miramar Police Department told NTD via email on Monday that officers were dispatched shortly after 5:30 a.m. to the intersection of Southwest 27th Court and Sunshine Boulevard in Miramar, just outside of Miami, after receiving multiple ShotSpotter alerts.
Officials said 21-year-old Brianna Johnson and the two other victims were traveling westbound along Southwest 27th Court in a lime green Lamborghini Urus when a white sedan pulled alongside the driver’s side of the vehicle and opened fire, striking all three occupants.
Speaking with CBS News, a family member identified Johnson as an influencer known on Instagram as “Dreamdoll Brii” and on TikTok under the handle @_itgirlbri, where she had amassed nearly 90,000 and more than 390,000 followers, respectively.
Neighbors also told the outlet they heard the gunshots Sunday morning but initially mistook them for fireworks, given that it was the day after the Fourth of July.
“It is a little nerve-wracking,” Carlos Regueiro said. “For no reason really—there’s no reason for that type of behavior on the Fourth of July, when we’re all trying to come together for something as big as 250 years of freedom. So, why do stuff like that?”
The Miramar Police spokesperson told NTD that Johnson was pronounced dead from her injuries. The other two occupants of the Lamborghini were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, roughly five miles away, in critical condition. CBS News reported that the two other victims were men. However, officials have not yet released their identities.
It is unclear how many suspects were inside the white sedan or whether there was more than one shooter involved. Authorities have also not shared any information about what may have led up to the shooting, including a possible motive.
Officials said the investigation into the triple shooting remains ongoing. Detectives have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Miramar Police Department Homicide Tip Line at 954-602-4937. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Broward Crime Stoppers hotline at 954-493-8477.
