After a multi-decade wait, Spaceballs 2 is now approaching at “Ludicrous Speed.” The sequel to the 1987 cult classic is scheduled to be released in theaters next year to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the first movie. The highly anticipated project had a large presence (almost as large as Dark Helmet’s headgear) at CinemaCon, as promotion ramps up in the lead up to the historic return of the spoof-heavy favorite. Mel Brooks appeared in a video presentation to announce the title of the follow-up, while also unveiling the first trailer, which featured parodies of several blockbuster franchises, including Star Wars, Avatar, and more.
